Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of r/Shorts (the “Service”), which lets you turn text prompts into narrated, captioned short-form videos. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Authentication is handled by Clerk.

2. The Service

r/Shorts generates story scripts, narration, captions, and rendered videos based on the prompts and settings you provide, using third-party AI and cloud providers. Features may change, and the Service is offered on an evolving, best-effort basis.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Create or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or sexually exploitative.
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent generated content as authentic where doing so would deceive or harm others.
• Violate the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of others.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
• Resell or abuse the Service in a way that imposes unreasonable load on our resources or third-party providers.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the prompts you submit (“Inputs”) and, as between you and us, the videos and other media you generate (“Outputs”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transmit your Inputs and Outputs solely to operate and provide the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any material you submit and for your use of the Outputs.

5. AI-generated content

Outputs are produced by automated AI systems and may be inaccurate, offensive, or similar to content generated for others. You are responsible for reviewing Outputs before publishing or distributing them and for complying with the terms of any platform where you post them (such as TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube).

6. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties including Vercel (AI Gateway, routing to model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and DeepSeek), Amazon Web Services, and Clerk. Your use of the Service is also subject to their applicable terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

7. Intellectual property

The Service itself, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or to copy the Service.

8. Beta and availability

The Service may be offered free of charge while in beta and is provided without any guarantee of availability, uptime, or data retention. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, r/Shorts and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless r/Shorts and its operator from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your Inputs, your Outputs, or your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
